Here are some of the most common questions asked by our BUDDY community.
To get BUDDY, you will need a compatible smartphone and a compatible smartwatch device. Then click on the link below.
Currently BUDDY is supported on iOS version 11.0 or higher and iPhone Model 7 or newer. BUDDY is also available for Android devices.
To receive all of BUDDY's features, functions, and benefits, you will need a Fitbit Versa 2, Versa 3, Sense, or Ionic. However, you can still receive medication reminders and boundary alerts without a smartwatch.
No, you do not need a phone and a smart watch. If you get the Apple Watch with GSM enabled, then you can use Family Plan to set up the watch and you do not need to have a phone for BUDDY to work. Note that there is usually a small carrier fee (ie ATT, Verizon, etc.) for using GSM on the watch.
Your support team can include as many family members, caregivers, friends, and health professionals as you like and who will agree to receive them. Each will need to confirm his or her email address, create a BUDDY account, and download the app onto his or her smartphone.
We assume that you have compatible equipment (smartphone and watch). Our current service is a monthly subscription for $49.95.

After a fall, alerts are sent to members of your support team and to our monitoring company. If, after 5 minutes, you do not indicate that you are OK or family members and caregivers do not respond to monitoring company outreach, then local emergency services are notified and dispatched to your location.
CODE BLUE alerts are immediately sent to our monitoring company and emergency services are dispatched immediately. CODE BLUE events include things like heart attack, inability to breathe, or other immediately life threatening events. Many emergency services (police, fire, ambulance) are now delaying dispatch of units without need verification. The combined use of BUDDY and a call center immediately qualifies as need verification and units are dispatched without delay. Another benefit to BUDDY is that it relays to the responding unit the vital biometric information, in real time, that is being collected while they are en route.
Simplicity is our top priority. All loved ones really need to do is wear the stylish smartwatch. BUDDY takes care of the rest. Of course, a caregiver or loved one needs to scan in medications, and some smartwatches, like the Fitbit Smartwatch, will need to be paired with a smartphone.
Yes, you should have notifications turned on for BUDDY. To do this, go to: Settings --> Notifications --> BUDDY --> Turn On "Allow Notifications"
Yes, please make sure sound is activated on your watch. This adds an extra layer of support when using BUDDY. To do this, please go to your Apple Watch and on the default screen when the clock is displaying, simply swipe up to display your watch settings. Scroll until you see a “Bell” icon and make sure that the bell icon does NOT have a red background with a slash through the bell. If it does have the red background, tap on the bell icon and it should change the bell icon to white indicating that your Apple Watch sound is on.
